RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM INFORMATION 2008/2009

REGISTRATION Wednesday, August 20 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Thursday, August 21 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

For parents who work evenings, registration is also scheduled for:

Thursday, August 21 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

A parent must register their own child(ren). No registration will take place on Saturday or Sunday.

The cut off date is Tuesday, September 23, 2008

Fees: $25 for one child

$40 for two children

$50 for three children

$60 for four or more children

Registration after August 22 will have a $10.00 late fee added in.

SCHEDULE OF CLASSES

Kindergarten through 5^th Grades Sundays 10:00 a.m.

Grades 6 through Confirmation Wednesdays 7:00 p.m.

The classes will start as follows:

Kindergarten through 5^th Grades Sunday, September 28, 2008

Grades 6 through Confirmation Wednesday, October 1, 2008

SACRAMENTS OF RECONCILIATION AND HOLY EUCHARIST

To be eligible, students must attend 1^st grade Religious Education classes or attend 2^nd grade in Catholic School. Students in upper grades will have to attend extra classes.

SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION

Two year preparation: To be eligible, public school students must have attended religious instruction in the 6^th and 7^th grades. Second year of Confirmation class starts October 1, 2008.

Confirmation students and parents or sponsor are to sign up for and complete three hours of volunteer time for our Folk Fest which is September 5, 6, & 7, 2008. You must sign up by registration day.

R.C.I.A.

If you, a friend or a family member are interested in learning about the Catholic Church or updating what you already know, then the R.C.I.A. program is for you. To become a member of the class, please call Fr. Carley at 255-8902. Classes will be starting the end of September. Adults who need the Sacraments of Holy Communion or Confirmation should enroll in these classes at this time.

CATECHETICAL SUNDAY

Catechetical Sunday is scheduled for Sunday, September 21. The Religious Education Teachers and the RCIA staff will be commissioned at 9:00 am Mass.

REMINDERS

1. Please remind your children that we do not allow visitors to the classes.

2. See that your child attends classes weekly and arrives to class on time.

3. Your child must participate at Mass here at St. Joseph the Worker every weekend.

4. Students receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation or Confirmation who were not Baptized in the parish are to bring in their Baptismal Certificate.

5. Grades 1 through 5 will be bringing home homework. Please help your child with their homework and see that they return it the next week.

6. Parents having children entering 2^nd grade this year, be sure they have learned the prayers from the prayer sheet they were sent to be memorized over the summer months.
